"إن الشباب العربي يشعر بأكثر من رغبة للصراخ، إنه مشحون بطاقة الرفض والتمرد، ويشعر أن أطواقاً من العزلة تُشَيَّدُ حوله، وكُلّ التوصيفات الجاهزة، والصيغ الفوقية، ومؤسسات الرعاية المفترضة التي تقدم هبات من قبل الحكومات، جميعها استعارات تتسم بالتجريد تفقد الأهلية على التعايش مع الواقع ومعطياته، وتزيد الوضع تعقيداً، وتتفاقم بالمقابل المشاكل أمام الشباب الباحث عن مشروعية دوره، وحقه في صياغة مستقبله. ولا شكّ في أن الحاجة إلى مراجعة متسمة بالتعبير عن حجم المشكلات التي يواجهها هذا الجيل من الشباب، لا بُدَّ من أن تملك لغتها الخاصة، وإمكانية فعلها الميداني، إذ إن تقويض الصيغ السابقة في المعالجات الجزئية أو المبتورة للقلق المشروع للشباب في البحث عن الهوية والدور يتطلب بالمقابل وضوحاً في الرؤية ومعالجات جذرية وحاسمة، وهذه القضية ستبقى شاغلاً وهماً للمفكرين المعنيين بموضوع الشباب والمستقبل. وفي هذا الإطار فإن مركز دراسات الوحدة العربية حين يضع هذا الكتاب أمام القارئ، فإنه يساند صرخة الشباب العربي، ويفتح أمامها مديات التأثير والفعل، ويدعو عبر ذلك إلى إدامة النقاش والحوار حول هذا الموضوع، وإلى كسر كُلّ القيود التي تحول دون أن يأخذ الشباب العربي دوره وفرصته في البناء والتغيير".
