الكتاب من تحقيق محمد إبراهيم الزغلي، الكتاب طبعة أولى. هذه سيرة رجل تقوى الإله نصب عينيه فنور بصيرته، وكان مثالاً لأروع الورع حتى عمّ ذكره الخافقين وبلغ حدّ المشرقين. فالزهد فيما رغب فيه الناس بضاعته، والتقلل من الدنيا الذميمة نجارته، وحب العلماء والصالحين اكتسابه، والقول بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر صناعته.. السنّة مذهبه. وكانت المحنة التي تعرض لها هذا الإمام قدراً، فسبك فخرج ذهباً خالصاً. وكان له في الأخذ بالتقية والرخص مندوحة ومتسع، غير أنه آثر تحمّل ما تحمل من الأهوال من سجن وعذاب وهو صابر لا تلين قناعته. وذلك لأن الأخذ بالرخص من شيمة من لا يقتدي به ولا يستضاء بقبسه، أما الأئمة المجاهدون والأعلام من العلماء الذين يؤتسى بفعالهم فالآخذ بالعزائم عندهم أولى وبهم أليق وأجدر. وما أحوج أهل هذا العصر الى النهل في سيرة هذا الإمام الطيبة، وهو العصر الذي كثر فيه المتزلقون لأهل الحكم فقيم كل بقدر تدانيه من السلطان وقيس ما احتجن من الفوائد بدرجة نفاقه، ونبذ أهل العلم والتقوى حتى غدوا جذاما يفر منه وأوذوا وعذبوا. فاقرأ هذه السيرة قراءة ناشد للحق، فإن لم تستطيع العمل بما فيها فأحب صاحبها واسأل الله أن يهيئ لهذه الأمة هداة يصدوها عن طريق الغيّ.
