إلى أي حد يمكن القول إن المناهج الموجودة لتعليم العربية لغير الناطقين بها تحقق الهدف منها في ربط المسلم بدينه وثقافته الإسلامية من ناحية، ومواكبة الطفرة العلمية الهائلة في تعليم اللغات لغير أبنائها من ناحية أخرى؟ على أن هذا السؤال يستتبعه تساؤل آخر، وهو: كيف نقدم الثقافة الإسلامية للمسلم في البلاد الإسلامية، وللمسلم في البلاد غير الإسلامية، ولغير المسلم بصفة عامة؟ وهذه الدراسة سوف تجيب عن هذه الأسئلة بموضوعية علمية تتفق والأسلوب العلمي في البحث دون اللجوء إلى شارات طنانة تخرج بها عن أهدافها، ودون التقليل من شأن ما قدمه المجتهدون في تعليم العربية لغير أبنائها. وقبل الحديث عن المنهج الإسلامي المقترح تستوجب هذه الدراسة أن نشير إلى مناهج تعليم اللغة العربية لغير أبنائها القديم منها والحديث فنحدد أهدافها، ومحتواها اللغوي، والثقافي، وأسس اختيار هذا المحتوي، ومستوى الدارسين، وطريقة تناول هذه المناهج للتدريبات واختبارات التقديم، مع الإشارة إلى منهجهم في طريقة تصحيح الأصوات، مع نقد هذه المناهج وإظهار إيجابياتها وسلبياتها متوخين الدقة العلمية والنقد الحيادي لها. لقد قسمنا المناهج إلى منهجين، لسهولة الدراسة حيث التشابه واضح بينهما في كل مستوى: أولهما سميناه: المنهج التقليدي، والثاني: المنهج الحديث.
