تحمل سطور هذه القصة ــ بكل براءة وعفوية ـ آلام الشعب الفلسطيني في المخيمات، وكيف يترصد الموت عبر بنادق الصهاينة للأطفال الصغار، وكيف يرحلون عن الدنيا وهم بعد أعواد خضراء لا يعرفون للحياة معني سوي اللهو واللعب مع أقرانهم. بطلة هذه القصة واسمها عندليب فقدت أباها وهي طفلة صغيرة، شعرت بأنها تفتقر إلي الأمان وتأكد هذا الشعور الذي لم يبارح روحها وهي تري طائرات إسرائيل تقصف أبناء شعبها، وأيضًا عندما اعتقلت إسرائيل أخاها بدر لمدة ثلاثة وثلاثين شهرًا ليخرج من المعتقل مصابًا بفقدان الذاكرة ورعشة في جميع أطرافه. ورغم كل هذا التوحش الإسرائيلي الذي أصاب أفراد عائلتها، إلا أن عندليب دائمًا تبدو كعصفور يحب الحياة، يتحرر من خوفه من أجل مواصلة الطيران والتغريد.
