المكتبة في بلدنا ما زالت بأشد الحاجة إلى مثل هذا الكتاب، فمهما تحسنت الكيفية في الوصول إلى العلوم بواسطة الإنترنيت وسواها من الوسائل الحديثة، تبقى المطالعة تُتوجهاً جميعاً. قد يتساءل القارئ لما وُضع هذا الكتاب وما الغاية المرجوّة من التمتع بمطالعته؟. إن الهدف الأول لهذا الكتاب هو، تعريف النحّالين إلى أنواع النباتات البرية والأشجار التي تستجلب أزهارها النحل، مع لفت نظر هؤلاء إلى أهمية وجودها على مقربة من الأماكن التي يقيمون فيها القفائز أو "القفران" وبالتالي العمل على منع رشّها بالكيماويات على مختلف أنواعها أو حرقها أو إتلافها بأية وسيلة كانت، داعين إلى المحافظة عليها في الطبيعة. لقد جاء المؤلف في التلال والويان المحيطة بقريته الجميلة "صليما" وغيرها من الأماكن الجبلية في السلسلتين الغربية والشرقية متسلحاً بآلة التصوير ومتوقفاً قرب النباتات التي تحوم حولها عاملات النحل في موسمي الربيع والصيف، وبعد التعرف على النباتات المصورة والتأكد من تصنيفها علمياً، بالمقارنة مع صور أو رسوم منشورة سابقاً، عمل المؤلف على وضع أسماؤها المتداولة بالفرنسية وبالإنكليزية مع الإكتفاء بتسمية عربية واحدة كي يسهل التعريف عنها. كما أن الهدف غير المعلن لمثل هكذا كتاب يبقى الحفاظ على الطبيعة وتنوعها الغني والهام في لبنان.
