قام الربيعي باستنساخ الكتاب ومن ثم قابله على النسخة الخطية لابن الحاجب ثم ضبط النص ضبطاً نسأل الله فيه السداد, وأن يكون كما أراد مؤلفه, ثم قام الربيعي بوضع كلام ابن الحاجب كاملاً من أعلى النكتة حتى يتضح للقارئ كون العلامة المقبلي صدر نكته بقوله: قوله ولم يذكر كلام ابن الحاجب بتمامه. ثم خرج أحاديث الكتاب وأحل النصوص إلى مظانها غالباً, وقام بعد ذلك بالتعريف بغريب اللغة والمصطلحات العلمية.
