إن إصدار كتاب يعرف بحياة الأستاذ الدكتور أمجد الطرابلسي الغنية، وآثاره الرصينة في سورية وفرنسا والمغرب، أكثر من استحقاق، بل هو دين في رقاب جيل كامل من تلاميذه البررة، الذين رباهم على قيم العلم العالية، والجدية والمثابرة، والرصانة في حياتهم وأعمالهم. إن الجيل الذي تعلم في كلية الآداب في الرباط بالمغرب وفاس بين 1961 ـ 1993م قرؤوا جميعهم تقريباً على أستاذ هذا الجيل، وأصابوا من تكوينه العريض الثرّ، وصاروا من خريجي مدرسته، التي كانوا ينعتونها بمدرسة التوازن بين الثقافة العربية وبين الثقافة الغربية لا تطغى إحداهما في شخصه على الأخرى، ونهلوا من معينه الغني في مرحلة الإجازة، أو جرى تكوينهم على يديه في مرحلة الدراسات العليا. فقد زرع الرجل خير زرع أنبتته تربة هذه البلاد المباركة، فكانوا كالخميرة في تأثيرهم وعطائهم وخيرهم، وتسنم كثير منهم أعلى المراتب، فبرهنوا على خلال الرجل الذي نشأهم عليها من الاستقامة والجدية، والتفاني في العمل، والحرص على مصلحة هذا الوطن الغالي. إن الرجل كان مدرسة، وكان له خطة علمية يسير عليها في عدة اتجاهات وهي: 1ـ اتجاه الدراسات النقدية والأدبية والبلاغية. 2ـ اتجاه تبيين المصطلحات النقدية وتاريخها. 3ـ اتجاه تاريخ النقد، وهو اتجاه مدرسي بحت. 4ـ اتجاه التراث وتحقيق المخطوطات. 5ـ اتجاه الأدب المقارن. 6ـ الاتجاه الفني الشعري. نرجو أن يساعد الكتاب على إضاءة بعض الجوانب الغامضة في حياة الرجل العلمية، ويحفز مريديه وتلامذته إلى الوفاء لأستاذهم بإقامة ندوة وفاءٍ لعلامة نادر قلما يجود الدهر بمثله.
