الكتاب من ترجمة مها بحبوح. الكتاب هو الثالث في سلسلة "تقارير مختارة" التي أطلقتها مؤسسة الدراسات الفلسطينية أوائل سنة 2007. وهو عبارة عن تحليل للحرب بين حزب الله وإسرائيل سنة 2006، يتضمن دراسة للعقيدة القتالية لكل من الطرفين قبل الحرب، ونظرة عامة إلى المشكلات العملياتية والتكتيكية التي واجهها الجيش الإسرائيلي في أثنائها. ويوضح الكتاب أن القوات البرية الإسرائيلية وجدت نفسها، بعد أعوام من انشغالها بعمليات مواجهة الانتفاضة في الأراضي المحتلة، غير مهيأة تكتيكياً وغير مدربة على مواجهة مقاتلي حزب الله الذين لا ينقصهم التصميم والذين نفذوا ما يمكن اعتباره دفاعاً تقليدياً عن موقع ثابت.
