الكتاب من تحقيق الدكتور وليد بن محمد بن عبد الله العليّ. هذه رسالة ضمنها فيها الإمام ابن كثير جملة من شعب الإيمان، الموجبة لمحبة الرحمن والمغضبة لسكنى الجنان، وبالعودة لمتنها بحدها رسالة علمية ماتعة، فافتتحها المؤلف بذكر اختلاف العلماء في قوله تعالى: "كآفة"، ثم أورد حديث شعب الإيمان، الذي رواه الشيخان من حديث أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: "الإيمان بضع وسبعون، أو بضع وستون شعبة، فأفضلها، قول لا إله إلا الله، وأدناها: إماطة الأذى عن الطريق، والحياءة شعبة من الإيمان". ثم بدأ بتعداد شعب الإيمان مبتدأ بأولادها وأعلاها: شهادة أن لا إله إلا الله ثم بأخراها وأدناها: إماطة الأذى عن الطريق. ثم ذكر ما بينهما من الشعب، وهي: الحياء، والصلاة، والزكاة، وأداء الخمس، والصوم، والحج، والإيمان بالملائكة، والكتب، والرسل، البعث بعد الموت، والجنة، والنار، والقدر كلها خيره، و شره، والجهاد وبر الوالدين. وقد انتهج المؤلف في إيراده لهذه الشعب منهج أبي القاسم اللالكائي الطبري في تعداده لخصال الإيمان المروية في الأخبار.
