في جديده الشعري "الجبل البعيد" يبدو سماء عيسى كراقب محايد، بوسعه أن يسخر من كل شيء، وكأن الحياة التي يتأملها تخص عالماً آخر، لا تربطه به أية علاقة إلا باعتباره موضوعاً لقصائده "تعال أيها العدم/ أثقل على قلبي بالضياع/ أثقل على قلبي بنوارس الخطيئة/ تحلَق دون ألم/ من فجيعة الأرض/ إلى نهاية السماء". هي مجموعة شعرية عن النسيان والألم، وعجز الانسان الحديث عن التواصل مع الآخرين ومع نفسه ومحيطه، والمغارقة التي يسوقها الشاعر هنا؛ هي هذه الرؤية الشكية في كل ما يجري من حولنا، "تركت أرملتي/ وطفلتي في المهد/ أمي التي تنوح الليل والنهار/ وأنت ترحلين/ إلى موتٍ عميق/ في الأودية يتردد بكائي/ كحمامة غريبة في أور". وهكذا يغدو الشعر وسيلة اتصال تبنى عبر النسيان، باعتباره تجربة الوجود الأعمق وهو ما تشي به مفردات القصيد. هذا، وقد انتظمت قصائد الكتاب في ثلاثة مجموعات هي: "سمهرم" و"في عشق إله القمر سين وابنته المعبودة إنانا" و "إشارات".
