حمزة بن قبلان المزيني (1363ه_1944م - ) أستاذ لسانيات سعودي معاصر، حاصل على درجة الدكتوراة من جامعة تكساس أوستن بالولايات المتحد الأمريكية، وهو أستاذ بروفيسور في جامعة الملك سعودبالرياض.
والدكتور المزيني أيضا ناقد معروف، ويكتب في الصحف السعودية وأشهرها الوطن.
معروف بمقالاته الرصينة في نقد المناهج ونقد مفاهيم أسلمة المعرفة، وفي نقد التيارات التقليدية.
للدكتور المزيني سجال معروف مع دكتور تقليدي وصل إلى المحاكم وأصدر فيه القضاء حكم صارم ضد المزيني، تدخل فيه الملك السعودي مسقطا الحكم، في سابقة صدر من بعدها قرار ملكي يقضي باحالة جميع قضايا الاعتراض على مخرجات التعبير والرأي إلى لجنة في وزارة الاعلام لا إلى القضاء العام.
والدكتور المزيني معروف على المستوى العربي بتعريبه لكتب اللغوي الأمريكي الشهير نعوم تشوموسكي .
اشتهر بشخصية مفكرة ولها نظرية تحليلية للماضي مع نظرة ثاقبة للمستقبل بدءاً بعلاج الوضع الحالي من الجذور مثل تطوير المناهج وغيرها, لأن الأمل يمكن في الجيل الجديد من الناشئة, ولكن بعض المتدينيين وليس جميعهم لا يروق لهم الدكتور حمزة ويصفونه بالعلماني أو الليبرالي وغير ذلك من الأوصاف, ربما بسبب التباسات على مستوى الفكر.
