تقوم هذه الرسالة بتقديم دراسة تاريخية سوسيولوجية للوجود المسلم في شمال أمريكة، من منظور عالمي، يوثق آليات الحراك الاجتماعي لهذا الامتداد الثقافي البشري الذي تجاوز مرحلة الأفراد، وصار كياناً -على صغره- يحمل بوادر الأمل ومخاوف المستقبل، وتدل الشواهد والقرائن أن الصعود والتمكن المسلم في الأرض الجديدة لم يكن منفصلاً عن المشهد العالمي للحراك الإسلامي، وإنما كان مرتبطاً إلى حد بعيد بوضع المسلمين العالمي وبالتيارات الفكرية التي كانت تعتلجهم.
وتتعقب الرسالة نمو مجموعتي مسلمي أمريكة، خط السكان القدامى من عمق القارة الإفريقية، وخط المهاجرين الذين هبطوا بأعداد متزايدة منذ منتصف القرن العشرين.
وعلاوة على رصد تطورات الوجود المسلم على مستوى المجتمع والفهم الإسلامي، تقوم الرسالة بالتفصيل في واقع المؤسسات الإسلامية، وتحليل العوائق التي تعترضها، والكمون المرجو لها.
