الحرب رحى، ثقالها الصبر وقطبها المكر ومداراتها الاجتهاد ونفاقها الأناة، وزمانها الحذر ولكل شيء من هذه ثمرة، فثمرة المكر الظفر وثمرة الصبر التأييد وثمرة الاجتهاد التوفيق، وثمرة الأناة اليمن وثمرة الحذر السلامة، ولكل مقام مقال، ولكل زمان رجال والحرب بين الناس سجال والرأي أبلغ من القتال..." والحرب فوران اجتماعي هائل وعنف دموي فظيع وتمتد على مساحات شاسعة من الأرض تزايدت مع التقدم الحضاري المادي حتى شملت كل الكرة الأرضية وحتى فضائها.. والغاية الرئيسية لهذه الدراسة هي التوصل إلى أسلوب أو منهج جديد في إعادة كتابة التاريخ العسكري العربي من خلال تحليل الحقائق والروايات والأسانيد التي خلفها لنا المؤرخون الرواد وحفظوا لنا من خلالها الشيء الكثير من ذلك التاريخ.. وقد عرضت هذه الدراسة مناقشات سعت أن تكون تحليلية لبعض المعارك ووفقاُ لمفاهيم الحرب المعاصرة، بدءاً بمعركة الخندق أو الأحزاب كواحدة من أكثر المعارك حسماً في التاريخ العربي الإسلامي، ومروراً بمعركة حنين كمثال للقتالات الخاصة والكمائن الاستراتيجية ولإبداع القادة الشباب، وبالخطة الاستراتيجية لتحرير العراق والشام كنموذج للتخطيط والتنسيق الاستراتيجيين العربيين، وحملة كاظمة-الولجة المتعددة المعارك والمنارات ضمن ساحة حركات محدودة نسبياً، وانتهاءً بتحويل جهد الحرب بين محوري دجلة والفرات كأحد تطبيقات الاستراتيجية العليا على ضوء التحولات والظروف الآنية دون التحول عن أهداف المقر الأعلى (مقر الخلافة). ولقد ألقت هذه الدراسة الأضواء على حقبة تاريخية مشرقة في التاريخ العربي والإسلامي-حيث قدر للجيوش العربية الإسلامية إنزال أكبر الهزائم بجيوش الإمبراطوريتين الفارسية والبيزنطية. وبكل ما تميزت به هذه الجيوش من تفوق هائل وخبرة عريقة لا يمكن أن تقهر إلا على أيدي قوات تحسن تفهم الحرب وفنون القتال والمناورة فالحرب، إذن ليست سيفاً وفرساً ورمحاً وحسب وإنما هي إلى كل ذلك عقل وقلب وذراع.
