استطاعت الدعاية الذكية وفنون العلاقات العامة التي يجيدها الإسرائيليون تقديم صورة حرب 1967 كأحسن ما تكون لإسرائيل وكأسوأ ما تكون للعرب. وبالمقابل، فإن الصمت العربي والسربلة التي أعمى العرب فيها أنفسهم وحدهم، دون بقية العالم الذي عرف كل شيء، في أن تكون النسخة الإسرائيلية لهذه الحرب هي النسخة الوحيدة التي يعرفها العالم، والتي لا يكاد يجد غيرها الإنسان العربي. ولعل الوقت قد حان لنعرف كل شيء عن حرب 5يونيو والتي يجثم على قلب المواطن العربي لتملأه بمشاعر اليأس والخيبة والقصور هي أقل بكثير من مزايا المعرفة العربي لدراسة أو متابعة حرب 5يونيو سوى ما ينشره العدو، بكل ما فيه من دعايات وسموم وكذب، يمكن ترويجه تحت ستار نتائج الحرب نفسها التي دمرت كل التوقعات والأمل. ولا يكفي أن نشتم أو نلوم أكوام المنشورات والكتب التي يطلقها العدو في المكتبة العربية، وسواء الخيالي منها أو المغلف بمظهر الجدية، من كتاب "تحطمت الطائرات" مثلاً، الذي هو مجموعة قصص نسجتها مخيلة المخابرات الإسرائيلية، إلى كتاب الأب والابن تشر شل، الذي ضم كل التلفيقات بأسلوب الدراسة. ... وحتى يتكلم العرب، فقد أصدر ادجار أوبالانس المؤرخ العسكري البريطاني كتابه الجديد عن حرب 5يونيو، وفيه دراسة محايدة، تقريباً. وعلى أي حال فهذا الكتاب هو أول تقرير شامل، حقيقي، من يوم ليوم، ومن ميدان، ومن معركة لمعركة، ومن فرقة لفرقة، وهو محاولة جادة، وموفقة لدرجة كبيرة، لإعطاء وجهة نظر باردة وتحليلية وعسكرية بحتة، في تسلسل بسيط وواضح ومشوق.
