(حكايتي مع رأس مقطوع) هي قصة أديب ملتزم مقبل على كتابة عمل أدبي صادم عن الواقع الأليم الذي تعيشه بلدته (جلبلاء) في العراق.
تحكي الرواية قصة شاب كان يتسكع لتحرير جسده من طوفان شهوته، وجدته فئة مسلحة وقطعت رأسه بداعي التلصص، أما المعلومات الواردة لدى الشرطة فتقول أن الشاب كان خارج البلدة، تعرض للخطف من قبل عصابة مسلحة بعدما عرفوه ابن غني البلدة وقطعوا رأسه كون والده رفض إعطاءهم المال الذي طلبوه.
وعبر محاورة فلسفية متخيلة بين الكاتب والرأس المقطوع يرسل الكاتب إشارات يكشف من خلالها الفساد السياسي في البلاد، وصدام الطوائف، ونهوض تيار السلفية، ووسائل الإلغاء والشعوبية على أيدي عابثة تلهث لتدمير العالم أجمع.
يقول الكاتب في متن الرواية "... نحن نعيش في بلاد خائفة، بلاد تمشي بعكاز، نحتاج لأجيال كي تكون للكلمة مكانة مقدسة بين الناس، ويكون الأديب محترماً على أقل تقدير...".
(حكايتي مع رأس مقطوع) تحيل القارئ إلى وضع مأسوي ليس في العراق فحسب، بل في كل البلدان العربية، هو واقع يشير إلى فشل الكتابة في تغيير الواقع، فحادثة الرأس المقطوع دلالة على موت الكتابة المقترن بموت الحريات، فليس ثمة كتابة خارج الحياة، ولكن من يصغي لعقل أديب يتقمص شخصية وسيط بينه وبين سلطة متهرئة؟
