يبحث مؤلف هذا الكتاب الأستاذ الدكتور سالك فاروق الدملوجي تطور الكلية الطبية الملكية العراقية بعد مرحلة التأسيس من خلال سيرة ذاتية أتبعه الأساتذة العراقيون والبريطانيون ولا سيما الثلاثة الكبار: سندرسن، صائب شوكت، وهاشم الوتري، من أجل تزويد المجتمع بأطباء أكفاء يصلحون ما كان يعانيه العراق من نقص في الكادر الصحي في العهد السابق للحكم الوطني، وتهيئه من خريجيها جيلاً جديداً من الأساتذة الأكاديميين الذين تسلموا مسؤولية التدريس فيما بعد فأصبحت الكلية (في الستينات والسبعينات من القرن الماضي) من أبرز الكليات الطبية في الشرق الأوسط.
كما يروي المؤلف ذكرياته عن الحياة الطلابية والاجتماعية والفعاليات الصفية والصفية والأفكار السياسية الرائجة أيام الحرب العالمية الثانية، ويوثق منجزات زملائه طلاب دورته النجباء بعد تخرجهم.
كما أن المؤلف كان يأمل في إصدار الجزء الثاني عن الفترة (1947-1965) قضاها في رحاب الكلية مدرساً للأمراض الباطنية والصدرية والجزء الثالث (1965-1979) أستاذاً ورئيساً لقسم الطب الباطني في الكلية.
