أرح خافقي الموهون من رجفة الحزن، مقدر البرايا لم يشح مرة عني/ حملت إلى الأيام روحي وراحتي، وقلباً غدا من شدة الوجد كالعهن/ أدق على الأبواب أبتاع بهجتي، بفمي ولكن لا أصيب سوى الغبن/ أنادي على صوتي الذي بحّ صوته، فترجّع أصداء المناداة في أذني/ فلا الروضة الحسناء أغرت أحبّتي، ولا الخافق الحاني ولا روعة الحزن/ قرأت كتاب الفكر والجدر والأسى، فما ازددت علماً بالجحود وبالضنّ/ وعشت أباري الريح في كل عاصف، طبائع نفس لا تقيم على الجبن/ وما راعني أن الرواد مجانبي، وقد كنت أسقيه الروائع من فني/ أتألم نفسي والزمان يسومها؟ وتمضي برغم الوجد في سرها المضني/ تطالبني بالثأر من كل ظالم، فتثأر نفسي بالنبالة والحسن" وجدانيات وطنيات حماسيات رثائيات وشجنيات، وسيالات شعرية تجري معانيها صادقة، وتختال عباراتها متألقة، وتسري موسيقاها في النفس مثيرة مشاعر شتى منبهة إلى وحشة الروح.
