يضمّ هذا الكتاب بين دفّتيه، مجموعة من المحاضرات، التي ألفتها نخبة من أهل الرأي وذوي الاختصاص في الأردنّ، في منتدى عبد الحميد شومان الثقافيّ، خلال العامين 1999 و2000. وقد تناولت هذه المحاضرات قضايا أردنيّة معاصرة تبحث في شؤون الاقتصاد والإدارة، والمعلوماتيّة، والتربية والتعليم، والتأمين الصحّي، والعمل الاجتماعيّ، والحركة النسائيّة وحقوق المرأة، فضلاً عن واقع الحياة الثقافيّة وهمومها. وحرص كلّ محاضر من الأساتذة الباحثين على تحديد واقع المجال الذي تناوله وأبعادِه، مع اقتراح الحلول التي ارتآها مناسبة للتغلّب على أوجه النقص فيه؛ كلّ ذلك بغية رسم رؤية مستقبليّة تواكب المستجدّات المتسارعة. ومن المؤمّل أن يقدّم هذا الإصدار مشهداً شبه متكامل يتلمّس الواقع الأردنيّ بدقّة، سعياً لرسم صورة المستقبل على أسس واضحة تأخذ بعين الاعتبار أوجه القصور ومسبّباتها، إضافة إلى البحث عن أفضل السبل لجعل هذا المشهد متوائماً مع المشهد العالميّ في سياق تغيّراته العميقة وآفاقه الواسعة.
