"أغطي هزائمي-التي هي قامتي-بالكلمات، لأقدر على الإشادة بيديك وهما ثقيلان قلبي من سبورة الجدار الطويل، لأرى الرجل يتمرن على تهجي نهار يلوكه الرواة وأرى ألدّائي بلا سور أو أسماء، إلا أني أعرفهم برغم أقنعتهم والندوب التي يسدلون عليها ابتساماتهم وحتى الذين سأتعرف عليهم، عرفتهم، هكذا ضيع قلبي وبلا دهشة أتعرف على أحلامي المفرغة من الهواء والمليئة بالسهام المغموسة بالخريف تتقدم ببسالة إلى ربيع البالونات وتكشط الحليب عن أطفال استفاقوا على خيوط تخنق أصابعهم ومطر يفترس طيّاراتهم ولم يكن البرق يتلقى رسائلهم الصغيرة أو دموعهم المبتسرة".
