للمسيح عليه السلام مكانة بارزة في التشريع الإسلامي لا تتعداها من حيث الأهمية إلا مكانة سيدنا محمد عليه الصلاة والسلام، وللمسلمين نظرة عامة عن حياة المسيح حياته وهذه النظرة مختلفة عن تلك المحرفة التي لدى المسيحيين، بالنظر إلى ولادته أو إلى رفعه إلى الله، وهذا مغاير ومختلف لما عليه النصارى الذين يقولون بأنه صلب. وهذا العمل هو ترجمة للسيد المسيح أوردها المؤرخ البارز الدمشقي أبو القاسم علي بن الحسن بن هبة الله المشهور بابن عساكر. وهذه الترجمة مقتطفة من كتابه الضخم تاريخ مدينة دمشق، وتشمل حياته كلها من المولد إلى الرفع وكل ما دار خلال هذه الحياة من تفاصيل ومؤامرات وغير ذلك من الأمور.
