عرف السودان في العقود الأخيرة مساراً عاصفاً من التحوّلات، من حروب أهلية وما تلاها من حركات تمرد وانشقاق. ولقد تعرض قطاع واسع من المجتمع الأهلي السوداني منذ انقلاب ١٩٨٩ لأنواع قاسية ومستمرة من القمع، تركّزت بالأساس على النساء والمثقفين والفنانين والأقليات والشرائح المهمّشة . وهكذا أدى تراكم وتزايد أوجه الكراهية والإحباط المتولّدة عن الاستبداد والعنف إلى اندلاع ثورة ديسمبر ٢٠١٨ التي تكلّلت بالنصر في أبريل ٢٠١٩ . إلا أن هذه الثورة المجيدة نجمت عنها أزمة سياسية خطيرة بين القيادات المدنية والعسكرية، كادت أن تؤدي إلى الانفجار العنيف والدموي. ولقد بادرت المجموعة الإفريقية إلى ترتيب وساطة ناجعة وفعالة في الساحة السودانية، أفضت ببراعة إلى خيار الانتقال الديمقراطي الجامع في السودان . في هذا الكتاب يسرد محمد الحسن ولد لبات بأسلوب سلس وجذّاب مسار هذه الوساطة الناجحة ويقدم مساهمة حيّة في مذهب الوساطة الدولية وحلّ الازمات . وما يبينه المؤلف بوضوح في هذا الكتاب، هو أن افريقيا عندما تتولّى بنفسها تسوية مشاكلها بروح منفتحة على شركائها الدوليين، تثبت بالفعل تميّزها الايجابي . الدكتور محمد الحسن ولد لبات عمل سابقاً رئيساً لجامعة نواكشوط، ووزيراً للخارجية، وسفيراً في عدة دول، وموظفاً دولياً سامياً مختصاً في الوساطة في مناطق النزاع الداخلي والحروب الأهلية .
