بين دفتي هذا الكتاب تجربة عاشها، الدكتور سليمان، ينقلها كما هي، أو كما تعبر عنها أحداثها التي هزت العالم إنها قصة المجزرة التي تعرض لها أسطول الحرية وعلى متنها المناضل القومي، أو الفارس العربي الأصيل كما عبَّرت عن ذلك "جيهان حيدر" زوجته عندما سئلت عن زوجها الأسير في فلسطين المحتلة الدكتور هاني سليمان الذي ترأس البعثة اللبنانية في "أسطول الحرية" وأصيب جراء الهجوم الهمجي الذي شنته القوات الإسرائيلية على القافلة المتوجهة إلى قطاع غزة. يقول الدكتور سليمان "... هي جريمة هزت ضمير العالم من طنجة على الأطلسي، حتى جاكرتا في المحيط الهادئ، مروراً بأوروبا وأميركا، فتلوّت إسرائيل على نار الشجب والإدانة، في الصفحات الأولى لكبريات الصحف وفي الإنترنت والفضائيات، في الشوارع كما في الأروقة، في المحافل السياسية كما الدبلوماسية، لدرجة أن أميركا وللمرة الأولى في تاريخ السياسة الخارجية الأميركية، وبسبب من الحرج، تمتنع للمرة الأولى عن إعلان "الفيتو" ضد إدانة إسرائيل في مجلس الأمن... في الربيع القادم من هذه السنة سيتجمع في البحر الأبيض المتوسط عدد كبير من البشر حاملاً رسالة تضامن مع أهل غزة (...) هم أحرار أوروبا والعالم ارتادوا البحر في جمعية "غزة حرة"، وعبروا برَّ أوروبا وصولاً إلى فلسطين عبر جمعية "تحيا فلسطين عربية viva palestina arabia". هي ثقافة الشعوب، وكان للإسلام والعرب دور في إغنائها يوماً من الأيام، وجاء يومهم للتنعّم بنعمتها والاستفادة من قيمها. ثقافة الشعوب هذه، تكونت عبر مؤسسات لحقوق الإنسان، فكانت مبادرات كسر الحصار عن غزة، فسقط شهداء أجانب على غير أرضهم، وتحول اسم "أسطول الحرية" إلى مرادفٍ لمظلومية شهدها العالم بأم العين. هو "العالم الحر"، فعلاً لا قولاً، ينتصر للحق أينما وجد. وهي العروبة الحضارية، التي ترى في أحرار العالم إخواناً... هي رحلة التناصر والتعاضد في "حملة صليبية" مباركة هذه المرة، لا استعمارية ولا استيطانية، بل هي فِعْلُ توضيح بين المشاركين الغربيين وأندادهم العرب، لفَهْم مُلتبس كان قائماً على معادلة: "أن كل الغرب استعمار"، و"أن كل العرب طغيان وتخلف وعبودية
