وهناك بين مئات الكتب التي تحتويها المكتبة العربية، والتي تضم ايضاً ذخائر نفيسة بلغات أخرى، وبها نسخ نادرة متوارثة من أجداد الشابة، مكتوب عليها تواريخ بالحبر السائل تمتد إلى أواخر القرن التاسع عشر - وقعت يدي على كنزي الخاص الذي لا بد أن أخرج به بأي طريق: دفتر أزرق كبير، كان يوحي لي بمهابة الشيء الذي يخفي قيمة كبيرة مثل جبّانة تشد الإنتباه بطريقة غامضة فيتضح أنها أثرية.
كان يجب أن أخرج بالدفاتر الأزرق، فقد صرتُ بعد قليل من النظر فيه متوتراً، ولا أحتفل بأي عنوان آخر في المكتبة، وأنا أعرف جيداً قيمة ما يكتبه إنسان كان يكتب لنفسه ويعرف كيف يكتب، وقد قرأت بعض السطور التي أكدت لي أنني أمام تجربة إنسانية خاصة في القلق والتفكير، وغلب على الشعور بأنه ملكي، وأني جئت هنا كي أستيعده من بين أنياب صفقة بين مشترٍ خبير وأسرة حزينة ليس لها شهية للتفاوض.
