حُكم عليه في 9 مارس 2013 بالسجن إحدى عشرة سنة في محاكمة حسم، واعتقل يومها.

كثير من الناس يعتمد في استشراف المستقبل، على الاماني والتفاؤل، ولا ريب أن الاماني والتفاؤل شواحن جيدة، اذا كانت تقود الى افكار عملية، ينبثق منها الحراك والسعي. اما اذا كان الرجاء والتأمل؛ مواقف نفسية وجدانية، لم تنبع من تقييم وتقدير، اصبح دورها سلبيا انتظاريا، فانتظار المطر والبشرى، قد يكون انتظارا بلا جدوى، كـ "انتظار جودو"، في مسرحية صمويل بيكيت. وذلك خلل في طريقة التفكير، يساعد الانسان على احتمال المأساة التي لا حول له ولا قوة في دفعها، وهو يناسب السجين والمريض الذي عجز الطب عن علاجه، هذان - لا نحن - ينبغي أن يعيشا على امل الفرج، بين عشية وضحاها، لعله يهبط عليهما من السماء، فلو لم يأملا الخروج من البلاء كل صباح، لماتا من اليأس والاكتئاب، ولمثلهما قال الشاعر: منى ان تكن حقا تكن أحسن المنى / وان لا فقد عشنا بها زمناً رغدا
