هذا الكتاب يؤرخ للإمام الحسين بن علي بن أبي طالب ومن خلاله لآل بيت رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وسلمم) وقد جهدنا أن يكون هذا الكتاب موضوعياً ودقيقاً في نصه وروحه بذكر الحقائق التاريخية بدون مبالغات أو إضافات لتصحيح التزوير الذي لعبت به أيدي الكتاب والمؤرخين عن عمد أو دون عند والتي أساءت إلى أهل بيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وشوهت تاريخهم بما أضافوه من مبالغات على مر العصور على تاريخهم الجهادي وعلى استشهاد سيد شباب أهل الجنة الحسين بن علي عليه السلام.
قار رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: "من حمل علينا السلاح فليس منا". وعن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: ستكون فتن القاعد فيها خير من القائم، والقائم فيها خير من الماشي، والماشي فيها خير من الساعي، من تشرف لها تستشرفه، فمن وجد فيها ملجأ أو ملاذاً فليعذ به".
لقد أدت الفتن إلى خلافات واسعة بين المسلمين وإلى صراعات مسلحة ومعارك سقط فيها الكثير من المسلمين فيهم العديد من أصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وكادت تقضي على أهل بيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم.
دبت الفتن بين المسلمين وانفجرت مراجل السخط واتسعت الهوة بين المسلمين، وعصفت فرقتهم بوحدتهم فنشأت القوى السياسية التي سرعان ما استكملت قوتها ومعالم شخصيتها. وكانت لكل فئة منهم مذهبهم وآراؤها ونظريتها في الحكم.
إن التاريخ المنصف يبرئ علياً بن أبي طالب من التحريض على الثورة، كما يبرئه من التقصير في حماية عثمان، ويبرئه من السرور بمقتله.
إن دراسة منصفة وموضوعية لسيرة الحسين بن علي بن أبي طالب لتوضح الثورة من أجل الحق والعدل، ثورة المظلومين على الظلم وعلى الغش والخداع، وهكذا كتب التاريخ ملحمة الحق ضد الظلم وملحمة العدل تبقى على طول الدهر شامخة ضد المغتصب. ومن هذه الملحمة ينبغي على الشعوب والحكام أخذ العبرة من أحداث التاريخ.
