من الوهلة الأولى تظنّ أنّ " أمان أحمد السيد" تندب حظها أن ولدت أنثى بكل ما تحمله كلمة "أنثى" من معان، ومدلولات في الثقافة العربية والشرقية ، لكن عندما تنتهي من قراءة مجموعتها القصصية الأولى التي حملت عنوان " قدري أن أولد أنثى" تكتشف أنها أرادت أن تقول – وعلى العكس تمامًا مما قد يتبادر لك - إنها شديدة الاعتزاز لولادتها أنثى، وأنّ كل ما كتبته يصدر عن إحساس أنثوي محض، وبرؤية أنثوية نقية، وحانية وعميقة للعالم، وللموجودات، وللمعاناة الأنثوية في تنوع صورها من الابنة إلى الأم والزوجة والمرأة العاملة والأنثى الوحيدة .. ويلاحظ القارئ أن عنوان المجموعة " قدري أن أولد أنثى " لم تأخذه الكاتبة من عنوان إحدى القصص الواردة فيها ،كما هو المعتاد غالباً؛ إذ لا توجد قصة تحمل العنوان نفسه ، بل إن ما يمكن أن نسميه " الإحساس النهائي للمجموعة" يلخصه هذا العنوان . * ومن عناوين المجموعة " جنازة لقلب فقد الأمان" ، و" التهمة حبة زيتون" ، و" الوجه الآخر للملاك" ، و "ملامح لوجه مغادر" ، و" هو من أريده سلطانا وأنا له شهرزاد".
