هذا الكتاب تستعرض الكاتبة في محتوياته موضوعاً في غاية الأهمية وهو "موضوع الدمج" ومدى أهميته على كل من المجتمع بصفة خاصة والذي يشمل (الطالب من ذوي الإعاقة وأسرهم والطالب العادي وأسرهم والمعلمين وأخصائي التربية الخاصة) والمسئولين بالدولة بصفة عامة، وفي بداية الكتاب سوف تلقي الكاتبة نظرة سريعة على الإعاقة وأنواعها وأهمية التربية الخاصة والتدخل المبكر والتهيئة وتبدأ الكتاب بالنظرة السلبية السابقة لهم وما سيجنيه المدموج من جوانب نفسية واجتماعية ومعرفية وأكاديمية.
ولكي تصل الكاتبة إلى مبتغاها فهي تعرض في بداية كتابها أشكال وأساليب الاهتمام والرعاية لذوي الإعاقة، ولأن الدمج بشتي مجالاته سواء الدمج الأكاديمي أو الإجتماعي أو المهني حق من حقوق ذوي الإعاقة الذي يشعرهم بآدميتهم بين البشر، فلماذا نحرمهم من الاندماج في مجتمع لمجرد جهل المجتمع نفسه بمفهومي الإعاقة والدمج وطريقة تطبيقه. فعدما تستمع الكاتبة إلي خبر دمج طالب من ذوي الإعاقة في مدرسة عادية تغمرها الفرحة وينتابها شعور وهاجس يخاطبها ويقول لها هذا هو بداية النجاح، وبداية الانطلاق نحو هذا المجتمع بكل ما فيه، وفجأة يتراجع هذا الشعور لدى الكاتبة وتبدأ بالتفكير: ما مدى تقبل الوسط الذي سيدمج فيه؟ وهل دمجه سيعود عليه بنتائج سلبية أم إيجابية؟
وتحاول الكاتبة الإجابة على هذه التساؤلات من خلال كتابة الجزء الثاني من كتابي المتواضع الذي يضع تصوراً كاملاً لمدرسة المستقبل حيث دونت الكاتبة استراتيجية كاملة لطريقة الدمج وللمناهج الدراسية التي تناسب كل فئة محاولة جاهدة لكي تصل للطريقة المثلى لعملية الدمج.
