نبذة النيل والفرات: يحتوي هذا الكتاب على أوراق عمل مؤتمر "ندوة الدراسات الإنمائية الثامن عشر والذي عقد بعد انعقاد القمة الفرنكوفونية في بيروت، وهذا ما يجعل من هذا المؤتمر خطوة أولى في تحدي حوار الثقافات الذي دعت إليه القمة. وما التربية وبناء الإنسان المعاصر عن طريقها سوى المسار القديم، ولكن الصعب في سبيل الوصول لتقدم المجتمع وتطوير مفاهيمه وثقافته وإعلاء شأن إنسانه. وكالعادة، فقد قام مؤتمر الندوة على محاور متعددة ومواضيع مختلفة ليأتي متكاملاً بعوامل أساسية لبناء الإنسان المعاصر. فنرى في المحور الأول: دور التربية نسمع فيه عن الطفولة والمراهقة وأين يقع الأهل في ذلك؟ كما نسمع فيه عن التباين بين التعليم الرسمي والخاص وأين تقع الجامعة في لبنان من مساهماتها في بناء الإنسان؟ أما المحور الثاني: فيدور حول البحث العلمي، وأما أدراك ما واقع البحث العلمي في بناء مجتمعنا، وهل نحن فعلاً مؤهلون وأصحاب كفاءات في ذاك المضمار؟ ونتابع في نفس المحور فنسمع عن التقنيات الحديثة والجامعة الافتراضية (Virtual) مما يدل على وجودها في مجتمعنا ومتابعتنا للتطور العلمي المتماشي معها, وفي عصر العولمة لا ننسى العولمة ، ولا ننسى الإعلام، بخاصة بعد الأحداث المؤلمة التي قامت في 11 أيلول 2001 في أمريكا فيتلقاها المحور الثالث: إذ نسمع حول التربية كما نسمع حول مناهج التعليم، وندخل في دور وسائل الإعلام والهوية. وإن من يطلع على المواضيع المطروحة في تلك المحاور يلتمس عمقها.. إذ يغوص في فكر إبداعي يطال بناء الإنسان. وهو شأن صعب حقاً.. فالتربية تهدف لبناء الشخصية المتوازنة المتكاملة العصرية التي تضع خدمة الإنسان والمجتمع فوق كل اعتبار. إن المواضيع المطروحة في المؤتمر تكون كتاباً علمياً -هو بين أيدي القراء-يبين كيف ولماذا على التربية التي نتوخاها في مجتمعنا أن تبني الإنسان المعاصر؟
