تسعى معظم الدول إلى تطوير العملية التعلمية التعليمية، وتحديثها، لتلبية متطلبات التطورات الحديثة؛ ولأن هذه العملية هي عملية متحركة ومتطورة ومتغيرة بحكم تطور الحياة والمجتمعات، فقد شمل تطوير شامل لجوانب العملية التعلمية التعليمية؛ لكي يكون التعليم محققاً لطموحات الأمة ملبياً لآمالها وتطلعاتها في حياة أكثر رقياً وتطوراً ونماءً وازدهاراً. ان تحديث المناهج وتطوير عناصرها (الأهداف أو النتائج العامة والخاصة للمنهاج – محتوى المنهاج – استراتيجيات التدريس والتقويم) هو السبيل الأمثل لتطور التعليم، ولمعرفة مدى ما تحقق من الأهداف المنشودة في العملية التربوية من خلال تنوع أساليب التقويم ؛ لكي يساير روح العصر وتحقيق الغايات والطموحات، ولا سيما في هذا العصر الذي يتسم بالعلم والتقنية والتطورات العلمية والاقتصادية والتربوية والانفجار المعرفي الهائل وثورة المعلومات والاتصالات. وخلال السنوات الأخيرة زاد الاهتمام بالاستراتيجيات المعرفية والاجتماعية على حساب الاستراتيجيات السلوكية التي كانت مسيطرة على حقول التربية خلال العقود الماضية. ويعود السبب إلى ان معظم الدول اتجهت نحو الاقتصاد المعرفي (ERFKE)، نتيجة التطور وانفجار المعرفة في القرن الحادي والعشرين واستخدام التقنيات الحديثة في مجال الاتصالات بالإضافة إلى زيادة الاهتمام بتعليم الطلبة طريقة الحصول على المعرفة وتنمية أنماط التفكير المختلفة لديهم أكثر من تحصيل المعرفة نفسها. ونتيجة لمستجدات المناهج المطورة وما تحويه من استراتيجيات تعليمية وتقويمية حديثة؛أضع كتابي هذا بين يدي زملائي المعلمين الكرام ؛ انسجاماً مع أهداف التطوير التربوي نحو الاقتصاد المعرفي، ويرى ( بياجيه ) أن التطور المعرفي للفرد هو نتيجة طبيعية لتفاعل الفرد مع بيئته. ويفسّر هذا التطور المعرفي على أساس عمليتين هما:
