لقد كان الإمام العظيم فذاً من أفذاذ العقل البشري بمواهبه وطاقاته الثقافية والعلمية, كما كان بطلاً من أبطال التاريخ, وذلك بصموده أمام الأحداث, وبإدارته الصلبة تجاه الحكم العباسي المنحرف, فقد تمرد الإمام على نظمه الفاسدة, وسعى الى تحقيق الحق والعدل بين الناس. لقد كان هذا الإمام العظيم وحيد عصره في وفرة علومه. إنه كان أعلم الناس بشؤون الدين وأحكام الشريعة, وإن جميع علماء عصره كانوا محتاجين الى الإنتهال من نمير علومه, ومن مثله البارزة.
