نظراً لما للعلامات التجارية من أهمية اقتصادية حيث أنها تشير إلى مصدر السلعة وحماية التجار من المنافسة غير الشريفة وغير المشروعة, وأيضاً حماية المستهلك من المنتجات الموضوع عليها العلامة المقلدة أو المزورة. ونظراً للاهتمام الحالي من المنظمة الدولية للويبو على حماية الملكية الفكرية فقد ساعده الدول النامية في تعديل تشريعاتها الوطنية وإمدادها بالمساعدات والموارد الخاصة بتكنولوجيا المعلومات والدورات التدريبية الخاصة بأعمال الملكية الفكرية وتطوير الأجهزة العاملة في مجال الملكية الفكرية وخصوصاً العلامات التجارية. تناولنا في هذا البحث الحماية القانونية للعلامات التجارية وفقاً للقانون المصري والدول العربية والأجنبية والاتفاقيات الدولية على النحو التالي: الباب التمهيدي في تعريف العلامة وأهميتها وصورها وأنواعها وأشكالها, الباب الأول في تسجيل العلامات إقليمياً ودولياً, الباب الثاني في ملكية العلامات التجارية وحقوق مالكها, والباب الثالث في الحماية المدنية والجنائية للعلامات والتحكيم والوسائل البديلة في حل المنازعات في مجال العلامات التجارية.
