في تجربة أحمد حسين حميدان عموماً وفي مجموعته القصصية " مرايا أخر المشهد" التي عايشتها عن قرب طقوس حكائية متعددة في مراياها وفي تبايناتها السردية والجمالية والدلالية.. ففي كل قصة مرآة وفي كل مرآة صورة وفي كل صورة مشهد يعكس لنا ما يعكر صفو الحياة المنشودة.. فتارة هو الاحتلال ومآسيه... وتارة هو النظام الرسمي العربي الذي يتخلف عن ركب الفعل بزي جديد وبصورة عصرية.. وتارة أخرى هو الفقر واللوعة والحرمان الذي عاشته الشخصيات لديه متشكلة من بعض ملامحه وبعدد من أحلامه التي تقاسمناها معاً في ظل حياتنا المشتركة بينما كانت شهرزاده القصصية تقتحمها بلا استئذان وتشاركانا فنجان قهوة الحلم وترشفه معنا بلا موعد.. ولعله من الاهمية القول عن تجربة أحمد حسين حميدان القصصية أنها تستحق. التأمل ليس بسبب الجوائز التي حصلت عليها بل لأن عمرها يزيد عن خمسة وعشرين عاماً.. كان خلاها في سره يخبئ وفي جهره يعلن على مسامعنا بما عقد عليه العزم ويمضي إلى مراياه يتأمل نصه كما حلم به لائقاً ومغايراً لا يشبه فيه أحد..
