أميط اللثام أخيرًا - بعد مضي 67 عامًا - عن نصوص محاضر المفاوضات الخاصة بمعاهدة التحالف مع انجلترا في عام 1936، وهذه المحاضر تختلف اختلافًا جذريًا عن نصوص هذه المعاهدة التي نعرفها جميعًا، وهذه المفاوضات كانت بمثابة معركة حامية الوطيس بين طرفين متمرسين على المعارك السياسية والدبلوماسية، ولكن من الملاحظ أنه حينما اشتد حماس تلك المفاوضات، وكادت تصل إلى طريق مسدود، اتخذ رئيس الفريق الانجليزي المفاوض السير مايلز لامبسون موقف الهجوم، بينما اتخذ رئيس الفريق المصري المفاوض مصطفى النحاس باشا موقف المدافع فقط حرصًا منه بالاتصل المفاوضات إلى طريق مسدود ثم الفشل، ومن الملاحظ أيضًا أن رئيس المفاوضات الانجليزي استعان بمجموعة من المستشارين والخبراء، بينما تصدي رئيس المفاوضات المصري بمفرده، رغم المناورات السياسية والدبلوماسية التي لجأ إليها الانجليز، ووصل عدد الجلسات إلى 36 جلسة، حضر مصطفى النحاس باشا 31 جلسة بمفرده، واشترك فريق المفاوضات المصري في خمس جلسات منها. وقد حرصت على أن أدقق بشدة في مراجعة نصوص هذه المحاضر دون أي تدخل، كما أنني لم أشأ أن أبدي وجهة نظري التاريخية في كثير من الأحادث، والمواقف حتى لا أوثر على رأي الباحث ووجهة نظر المؤرخ الذي سوف يتناول هذه المحاضر بالدراسة والبحث فيما بعد، واعتقد أن نشر هذه المحاضر يثري هذه السلسلة، نظرًا لأهمية معاهدة 1936 بالنسبة لتاريخ مصر المعاصر.
