يوسف القعيد أديب وقصاص مصري معاصر ولد في محافظة البحيرة. اهتم بالتعبير عن المحيط القروي المصري وما يتصل به من قضايا وعرف بنبرته السياسية الناقدة عرضت بعض أعماله للمصادرة. يعتبر يوسف القعيد من رواد الرواية في مرحلة ما بعد نجيب محفوظ الذي ربطته به علاقة متينة. حصل على جائزة الدولة التقديرية في الآداب سنة 2008 وحازت روايته "الحرب في بر مصر" المرتبة الرابعة ضمن أفضل مائة رواية عربية.

قصة الحب التى نشأت بين الرجل الكهل معوق الحرب والفتاة العانس .."الديار تخلت عن ساكنيها, أدارت لهم ظهرها, حتى لمن فقدوا رجولتهم دفاعا عنا. هذا هو كل ما هنالك.. يتحدث العاشق الكهل, مع العاشقة العانس. ويكمل: لقد نسي الرجال أن العدو كان من الخلف ومن الأمام, والان علينا أن نتعامل كل يوم مع أعداء الخلف. والعاشق الكهل مقاتل سابق, هو الآن من معوقي الحروب. أما العاشقة شهد, فهي فتاة ناعمة ملساء قدماها كأرجل الراقصات طولا وجمالا وعذوبة. تبدأ رواية "القلوب البيضاء" بوجع التلاقي, الذى يدخل العاشق الكهل والعاشقة العانس إلى رحابة الصمت. ويحاولان الخروج منها ببوح العاشق الذى يدخلهما معا سجن الكلمات وفى هذا السجن. تحترق القلوب ولا يبقى سوى دخان القلوب المحترقة. الروائي المصري الكبير يوسف القعيد فى روايته التاسعة"القلوب البيضاء" والتى نشرت مسلسلة منذ فترة, يمضى خطوة أخرى إلى الأمام على درب عالمه الروائى.. فيقدم تجربة جديدة وفريدة على كل عطائه الروائى السابق.. إنه يحاول أن يجعل الناس والأشياء والمرئيات تتكلم. وذلك بلغة شاعرية عذبة. ومن خلال رواية لن تنتهى علاقة القارئ بها أبدا.
