يفترض هذا البحث أن هناك تطابقاً بين معطيات العولمة بمعناها الحديث من ناحية وبين عالمية الإسلام وتأثيراته تاريخياً من ناحية أخرى. ويتتبع أهم تعريفات العولمة ومظاهرها على سبيل مراجعة أثر الإسلام وفعله في التاريخ وتبيان أوجه التشابه بينهما. ومن خلال تبيان نقاط الالتقاء تتضح نقاط الافتراق وبالتالي يمكن تحديد مسببات التناقض والتنافر بين الإسلام والعولمة في الوقت الراهن. وينتهي البحث إلى خلاصات تدعو إلى المزيد من البحث والدراسة في هذا الموضوع الجديد والشائك.
