وفي هذا الكتاب يركز المؤلف على نقد الأنماط الشعرية في الأدب الأردى بعد أن أوضح ان التجربة الشعرية في أساسها تجربة لغة، وبيَّن أن لغة الشعر هي مكونات جميع الأنماط الشعرية من قصيدة وغزل ومثنوى وغيرها، كما أوضح ارتباط هذا الرمز بالخيال والصور والموسيقى وكذلك بالمواقف الإنسانية الأخلاقية، وهذا بإختصار هو موضوع كتابة الشعر والشاعرية، ذلك لأن حالى كان يهدف إلى تطوير اللغة الأردية الأدبية من خلال تطوير فن الشعر بجميع أنماطه، ولم يكتف بسرد نظريات جافة بل أكثر من الاستشهادات التي توضح نظرياته، مستشهداً أحياناً بالشعر العربي، وأحياناً بالشعر الفارسي ليدعم فكرته في نقد الشعر الأردى.
