تاب «الطريق الطويل إلى عالم أكيرا كوروساوا» من تأليف كامل يوسف حسين رحلة في أعماق عالم المخرج الياباني أكيرا كوروساوا أو بتعبير المؤلف محاولة لرسم لوحة لحياة مخرج لا يزال يثير الحيرة. من الصفحات الأولى للكتاب يبدو ولع المؤلف الكبير بإبداع كوروساوا وهو الولع الذي يرجعه إلى ثلاثة عقود مضت حينما شاهد بالمصادفة البحتة فيلم راشومون الذي يعد أحد أشهر أفلام المخرج الياباني كوروساوا وهو الفيلم الذي استطاع عام 1951 أن ينتزع جائزة مهرجان البندقية السينمائي ولينفتح المجال بذلك ليتعرف العالم على السينما اليابانية ومنجزها الفني الكبير. ويحاول المؤلف شد القارئ إلى مشاركته الاهتمام بسينما كوروساوا وهي الرحلة التي يقدر أنها تستمر بالنسبة له حتى نهاية العمر. وحسبما يشير الكتاب قدم كوروساوا الذي ولد في طوكيو عام 1910 أكثر من ثلاثين فيلما سينمائياً وهي أفلام تحتاج إلى قراءة على أكثر من مستوى والى جهد مكثف لمزيد من التعمق في فهم أسراره وسبر أعماق أغواره. فضلا عن أنها أعمال تتحدى أي محاولة للتصنيف. وأفلام كوروساوا ، حسب المؤلف، تجمع بين القوة والاقتدار والإنجاز الفني. ومن المفارقات التي يشير لها الكتاب في محاولة تقديمه لشخصية كوروساوا أنه إثر تعرضه لعاصفة حقيقية في حقبة السبعينيات تمثلت في أنه لم يكن يكد يجد عملا فإنه حاول الانتحار بقطع شريانه وهو الذي لم يقدم مشهد انتحار أبدا في أي عمل من أعماله. ويقدم المؤلف رؤى تحليلية لأفلام كوروساوا المختلفة وأبرزها «ران » و« أحلام ».
