في هذا الكتاب مِسْكَةً وعَبيرةً، من أخبارِ ومشاعرَ جيَّاشة، حول المسجد الأقصى المبارك، الذي تحن إليه القلوب، وهي رحلة العلامة "أبي الضياء محمد جمال الدِّين القاسمي الدِّمشقي" أحد أركان الإصلاح في القرن الماضي.
فقد كتبها بروح المحبَّة والتشوُّق إلى ذلك المكان المبارك؛ حيث عبَّر عن زيارته له حين وصوله إليه بعبير دموعه، ولمَّا استقرَّ به المقام في حجرته التي في داخل الأقصى في قبلِيِّه، جهة منبره الأيمن، فرح بمكانه هذا فبكى سروراً، وسَجَد لله شكراً على هذه النعمة؛ فإن بغيته من هذه الرحلة المقام والصلاة في هذا المسجد المبارك، وقد صاغ شيئاً من أنسه بالمسجد الأقصى.
ولمَّا خرج من المسجد الأقصى ودَّعه بما بدأ به، وأما بخصوص الرحلة عموماً، فإن العلامة القاسمي قد سجَّل كل ما مرَّ به، ونقل في بداية رحلته شيئاً من تاريخ وجغرافية عمَّان من المصادر القديمة وبعض الحديثة، وفي أثناء ذلك فإنه يذكر على سبيل الإجمال القلاع والحصون والأسوار والأعمدة، وجمال الطبيعة وحُسن مغانيها، بل وأحوال العمران ونهضته، والإشارة إلى بعض الموارد التجارية، وأحوال الناس ممن مرَّ بهم، ويثني على حال مَن لقي من أهل العلم والفضل ويصف بعض أحوالهم كما ترى ذلك في وصفه للشراكسة في عمَّان، فذكر شيئاً من عادتهم وكريم أخلاقهم؛ وذكر ما لقيه من حفاوة حينما دخل المسجد الأقصى في المكان الذي أقام فيه، وحينما خرج من القدس وودَّعه صُلحاء المسجد الأقصى وأخيار القدس، ولمَّا وصل بلدة يافا ونزل عند مفتيها الشيخ الأديب "علي أفندي أبي المواهب الدجاني".
