"حلة القصمان" هي نوع من السيرة الذاتية التي اختارت لها صاحبتها شكلاً فنياً خارجياً هو الرواية، فالرواية/ الراوية هي البطل الأساسي في هذا العمل وهي بنفس الوقت الكاتبة التي تحاول في لحظة راهنة هي زمن السرد أن تكتب رأيها في مجتمع عربي بعينه هي واحدة من أفراده، وقد استرجعت في ذاكرتها تفاصيل من زمن الطفولة والتمرد البريء في مجتمع "محاصر بأفكار غير منطقية ضد المرأة وكرامة عيشها ولا يعترف بحقوقها كأنثى وككائن بشري له حق الحياة على الأرض (...) استعدت من ذاكرتي مراحل طفولتي في (حلّة القصمان) شعرت بضيق في حلقي، أحسست بالخوف والوجع وأنا أمسك بالقلم، شعرت بشيء يغادرني يبتعد عني، كنت متأكدة بأن المستقبل سيكون أفضل ...".
وبهذا المعنى تقدم الرواية وعياً حاداً بالتمييز الذي تتعرض له المرأة في مجتمع ذكوري، فكلما توغلنا في القراءة تبدو الكاتبة متمردة على سلطة الأمر الواقع، فالزوجة ممنوعة من السفر إلا بإذن الزوج، ولا يحق لها قيادة السيارة، وأشياء أخرى. وهنا تتساءل: أين هي قيمتي الإنسانية؟ أين كرامتي كأم وكزوجة وكمواطنة ... فما ذنبنا إن كان ذنبنا أن نكون نساء؟ ... ومن المستفيد من هذا كله؟ ...".
هذه الموضوعات تتناولها الكاتبة، من خلال رصدها حركة المجتمع، على مسافة زمنية تمتد بين حيل الآباء وجيل الأبناء، وقد أبدت قدرتها على إخراج الحكاية في الخطاب المناسب، وكفاءة عاليه في نسيج النية الروائية المناسبة للعالم المرجعي الذي تحيل إليه، ومن يقرأ الرواية يتساءل: هل كل الحق على الرجال، أم يجب البحث عن أسباب أخرى، قد تكون المرأة فيها هي السبب فيما آلت إليه حالها ...؟.
