"بستان آدم" نصوص شعرية سُلم الشاعر "فواز سلوم" إلى الحقيقة الأعمق في الكون والحياة، ترشح عن ذاكرة ملتهبة لا تحدها حدود زمانية ومكانية، تدفعه لإنتاج الشعر في لحظة ولادته وقيامه، صوره تقوم على المزاوجة بين الذهني والتصويري، أما لغته فتتشكل من مجموعة من الألفاظ والأفكار، التي تلامس العام بقدر ما تلامس الخاص، تستنطق حركة الأشياء والموجودات في سلسلة أفكار حلمية وتراكمية كثيفة.
في القصيدة المعنونة "أشياء" يقول الشاعر: "نحن لا نخترع شيئاً... بل الاشياء تخترعنا... ليست الأشياء أسماء... أو كلمات فقط... بل وفرة رغبات وأشواق... نبع أفكار... نحن لا نخترع بل نقرأ... ليس صعباً ان أقرأ هشاشة جسدي... هذه السنديانة الصلبة... هذه الصخرة القاسية... هذه الرياح المزمجرة... هذا الشلال الغاضب... هذا الجبل الشامخ... جميعها تكتب ذلك كل حين... جميعها تشتاق لتعي ذواتها...".
يضم الكتاب خمسون قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "قارب الطفولة"، "الوجه الآخر"، "في العاصفة"، "آلة من صخر"، "ضباب"، "محبط"، "وليمة رعب"، "خطأ أم صواب؟"، "عالم جميل"، "حب في شارع المينا الجنوبي"... وعناوين أخرى.
