يتناول هذا الكتاب المعنى اللغوي والتربوي للحوار وتعريفيه القرآني والنبوي، والعناصر التربوية للحوارين القرآني والنبوي، ويحلل مثالين منهما. ويصنف الحوارين القرآني والنبوي إلى حوار برهاني وحوار وصفي ويعرفهما. ويبين أشكال الحوار القرآني القصصي ويعرفه، ويبحث في الحوار في قصة يوسف مثالاً للحوار في القصة الطويلة، بمشاهدها الثمانية، في المؤامرة والمحنة الأولى، ثم المحنة الثانية في منزل عزيز مصر، وتسامر النساء من وراء الكواليس، ومع يوسف والسجناء، وانفراج المحنة، ومع ملك مصر في قصره، ومحاكمة امرأة العزيز. ويعطي مثالاً وتحليلاً للحوار في القصة القصيرة، فيعرض الحوار الخطابي وأشكاله، ويمثل للحوار التعريضي من السنة النبوية ويبين أهدافه، ويضرب أمثلة للحوار التعليمي، وفيها الحوار القرآني والنبوي التنبيهيان، ويحللها. ويتناول أهداف الحوار القرآني التربوية، بأنواعه الخطابي التعبدي وشروطه وآدابه، والخطابي الموجه إلى النبي لإشعاره بمسؤولية التبليغ، وتحديد طبيعة دعوته ومهمته، والإجابة عن أسئلة السائلين، والرد على المشركين والمنافقين وأهل الكتاب، والحوار الموجه إلى المؤمنين لتقوية إيمانهم، وتذكيرهم بفضل الله ونصره ودعوتهم إلى السلم وإلى تكوين المجتمع المسلم، والاستعانة بالصبر والصلاة، وتهذيب الأخلاق، ونهيهم عن الولاء لليهود والنصارى، وغير المؤمنين، أو طاعتهم، والحوار الموجه إلى الناس لدعوتهم إلى التقوى، والتوحيد والإيمان بالبعث، وتحذيرهم من البغي. ويتناول أخيراً التحليل النفسي والآثار التربوية للحوار القرآني.
