قيل: "الإنسان عدوّ ما يجهل"... وعليه فلا سبيل إلى العيش بسلام مع الآخرين، ولا مجال لمحّبتهم، بدون معرفتهم، ومجتمعات اليوم، أكثر منها في أيّ يوم مضى، هي على إتّصال وإحتكاك مستمرّ بعضها ببعض، ومكتوب لها أن تتعارف لتتآلف فتتحابب فيكون لها الإزدهار والبقاء، ولئنٍ هي أصرّت على التقوقع والتعالي، استشرى فيها الجهل وقِصَرُ النظر، فضِيقُ الصدر والتعصّب والكراهية، فالتآكل الذاتيّ فالإضمحلال.
من هذا المنطلق، تواترت اللقاءات والمحاورات في العقود الأخيرة بين الحكماء من سائر المشارب والملل، لا سيّما بين علماء المسلمين والمسيحيّين، أبناء الديانتين العُظمَيَيْن الموحِّدتين، وكلا المعتقدَين يهمّنا، نحن أبناء العالم العربيّ، إلى أقصى الحدود.
فلا بدّ للمسيحيّ العربيّ من معرفة أخيه المسلم، رفيق عيشه، ولا مناص للمسلم العربيّ من معرفة أخيه المسيحيّ، ابن وطنه.
وفي هذا المجال، تعود بنا الذاكرة إلى أيّام دراساتنا اللاهوتيّة في جامعات لبنان والغرب حيث استُدعي بعض علماء المسلمين ليلقوا علينا محاضرات في الإسلاميّات، وكانت لنا تلك الأحاديث إذ ذاك مناسبات مميَّزة حثّنا على مزيد من البحث لإكتشاف ما عند إخوةٍ لنا في التوحيد مِن غِنًى وعمقِ إيمانٍ يستوجب الإحترام.
وفي مقابل ذلك يطيب لنا اليوم أن نقدّم للقارئ خبرةً مماثلة، صدرت بمبادرة من الجانب الآخر، وهي محاضرات ألقاها أحد علماء اللاهوت المسيحيّين على طلاّب كلّيّة الشريعة الإسلاميّة في أنقره (تركيا) سنة 1986، بدعوة كريمة من إدارة تلك المؤسَّسة، لمساعدة الطلاّب المسلمين على معرفة الديانة المسيحيّة من مصادرها".
وإنّها لعمري مبادرة سمحاء إن دلّت على شيء فعلى الروح الجديدة المحيية التي تهبّ اليوم بنعمةٍ منه تعالى، والتي تدعونا إلى التجاوب معها كلّ التجاوب على نحو ما ورد في القول المأثور: "إذا هبّت رياحُك فاغتنمها".
