في عمله المعنون (رحلتي إلى الصين) لا يتذكر الرسام العراقي "رافع الناصري" ماركو بولو، فرافع الشاب لم يذهب إلى الصين عام 1959 بحثاً عن المغامرة، بل رغبة في التعلم، غير أن جملة من نوع: "ولو في الصين" كانت كافية لكي تشيع الرعب في قلوب عراقيي منتصف القرن العشرين، فيكون الذهاب إلى الصين حينها نوعاً من ركوب الخطر. في هذا الكتاب، يكشف الناصري عن مرحلة أساسية من مراحل حياته الشخصية والفنية، إذ نراه يتحدث عن نشاته وطفولته واختياره الفن مساراً للدراسة والحياة، متنقلاً ما بين تكريت وبغداد، ومن ثم إلى الصين، حيث أكمل دراسته الفنية في جامعاتها لمدة أربع سنوات، وكما يكشف الناصري أيضاً عبر هذا السياق عن بعض تجاربه الفنية في أوروبا، وعودته بعد ربع قرن إلى الصين مرة أخرى لإقامة معرضه الشخصي الاستعادي هناك.. اعتبر الناقد فاروق يوسف كتاب الناصري (رحلتي إلى الصين) في معرض تقديمه له: "هذا الكتاب وهو ليس صناعة من أجل استعادة مشاهد بصرية فالتة، بل هو محاولة لتجسير الفجوة بين حياتين متمردتين، كشف عن لحظة خرافية ترتطم فيها نظرتان خلاقتان، لتبعث من ذلك الارتطام رؤيا لكون يتأمل ذاته في مرآة، يمكنها أن تعد بما تراه (...) الناصري هنا يعدنا بحياة ثانية. حياة نتأملها مثلما تتاملنا، نلتهمها وتلتهمنا (...) بعد قراءة هذا الكتاب لا يحتاج المرء إلى سماع جملة من نوع "كنت هناك" بطريقة أو بأخرى نكون جميعاً هناك بالطريقة التي تجعل من الإشراق الروحي أسلوب عيش". محطات الكتاب: تكريت مسقط الرأس، السفر إلى بغداد، السفر إلى الصين، السفر إلى البرتغال، في لندن وباريس، في بيروت، إلى سالزبورغ، في مركز الطباعة في لندن، العودة إلى الصين.
