أبي... كان فرحي كبيراً عندما تسلمت مخطوطة "سنوات الصبر والرضا" مع رسالتك ذات صباح وأنا أعد بعض فصول بحثي للدكتوراه في جامعة لندن حول ا لكتابة والديمقراطية في الأردن. أقول: كان فرحي غامراً، كما كان حزني هائلاً، بل كنت موزعة بين يأس موجع وأمل كبير. فقد رأيت في هذه الفصول ملامح من سيرة "الجنوبي"، حزنه المعتق، وعذاب جيله الجميل. تقول لي: "إذا مت فانعيني بما أنا أهله" وسوف أفعل يا أبي، فمثلي لا ينسى، مثلك لا ينسى وإن رحلت فسأقرأ عند رأسك كل مساء سيرة الأردنيين الطيبين، وحكايات كبريائهم، وراياتهم، وصبرهم الجميل. أبي... لو استطعت لعدت طفلة تختبئ في عباءتك، لكني أرى نجوماً تتألق في سماء الوطن، أرى في بعضها وجوه أحبة غابوا عنا، وفي بعضها الآخر نوراُ يشي بالوعد الطيب، والغد ينادي علينا، وهو ينشد عند مطلع الزمان الجديد: بلادي بلادي بلادي...
