كاتبنا هو باحث أسباني ودبلوماسي لازال يعمل في سلك وزراة الخارجية الأسبانية غير أنه شغف حباً بالبحث والتصوير والترحال في مناطق مختلفة وعاش لفترات طويلة في كل من القاهرة (محطة مهمة من محطات الثقافة الإسلامية والقبطية) والإسكندرية (العالصمة الثقافية للبحر المتوسط على مدى قرون عديدة) وأثينا (عاصمة ميلاد الثقافة اليونانية ودورها في الحضارة الإنسانية الحديثة) أو جنوب أفريقيا (ذلك البلد الأفريقي الذي يشكل أحد وجهى العملة الثقافية الأفريقية).
أهتم كاتبنا بوادي النيل وعصر ما قبل التاريخ والعصور التالية له، وألقى محاضراته ونشر بعض أبحاثه في الكثير من الدوريات، هو اليوم يقدم لنا في صفحات هذا الكتاب لمسات إنسانية نرى من خلالها كيف يرانا الآخر ونحن في بداية القرن الحادى والعشرين. ويعرف من أسلوبه كيف هى ملامحه وخلجاته النفسية والفكرية.
