حياة أئمة أهل البيت عالم رحيب من الفضائل والقيم، وبحر زاخر من العلم والمعرفة. وتاريخ حافل بالجهاد والنضال، والعمل في سبيل الله، فهي تجسّد الإسلام في قيمه وتعاليمه ومبادئه وأحكامه. ولكن.. ماذا اكتشفت الأمة من ذلك العالم الرحب، وكم اغترفت من ذلك البحر الزاخر؟ وماذا تعرف عن ذلك التاريخ الحافل؟ إنه من المؤلم حقًّا أن تلاحظ انفصالاً كبيرًا بين أجيال الأمة المعاصرة، وبين تراث الأئمة .. وأن تجد إهمالاً متعمدًا لهذه الثروة الضخمة، التي تنطوي عليها حياتهم ، فأغلبية قطاعات الأمة ـ اليوم ـ لا تعرف شيئًا عن حياة هؤلاء الأئمة العظام، الذين بذلوا طاقاتهم وكفاءاتهم لحماية الدين، ومصلحة الأمة. وقد تنبه سماحة الشيخ حسن الصفار من وقت مبكر إلى عمق هذه المشكلة، فكانت له وقفة مع سيرة أهل البيت في دراسة يُعرِّف فيها بأهل البيت لجمهور المسلمين، بعنوان: «أئمة أهل البيت رسالة وجهاد»، وهو كتاب كان حلقة أولى من سلسلة كتب موجزة ميسرة قدمتها مكتبة الرسول الأعظم العامّة - التي أسسها سماحة الشيخ أثناء تواجده في مدينة مطرح بسلطنة عمان (1394ﻫ -1397ﻫ)-، مساهمة منها في توعية الناشئة، وملء الفراغ الفكري لدى الشباب. وكانت من عناوينه: - شبابنا وأئمة أهل البيت . - دور الأئمة في الحياة. - مواصفات الأئمة . - حياة الأئمة . متابعات - الطبعة الأولى: 1397ﻫ ـ 1977م، مؤسسة الأعلمي للمطبوعات، بيروت ـ لبنان. - الطبعة الثانية: 1401ﻫ ـ 1981م، طهران ـ الجمهورية الإسلامية الإيرانية.
