قصة "بابا مبروك" تجمع بين طياتها حكايتين من النوع الأسطوري الذي يسرح بالقارئ الناشئ في عالم الخيال الإنساني ليرى من خلاله أبعاد ما وراء الكسل والتقاعس عن العمل والأخلاق الشريرة التي تطبع الإنسان بطابعها الجديد فخرج به من عالم الكرامة والإنسانية إلى عالم الحيوان وذلك لقاء عمله السيئ وليكون عبرة لغيره من بني البشر.
فالقصة الأولى تحكي واقع "بابا مبروك" الرجل الكسول الذي يمضي وقته في المقاهي وفي شرب النرجيلة، ومع مرور الأيام تحول إلى سلحفاة تعيش في أحد الأقفاص ومزاراً للسواح... أما القصة الثانية فهي تسرد قصة يرويها جحا عن حماره الأبيض الذي ليس ككل الحمير حيث حولته الأيام من إنسان إلى حيوان متكلم عقاباً له... فما هي قصة "بابا مبروك" و"حمار جحا"؟ وهل سيستعيدان كرامتهما البشرية بعد حين؟
قصّتان: الأولى تمثّل حياة الرجل المتقاعس عن العمل حتى ليُمسخ سلحفاة، والثانية تمثّل امرأة شرسة تُمسخ حية. والقصّتان هما من النوع الأسطوريّ الذي يرفّه ويثقّف، ويوجّه نحو الأفضل.
