هذا الكتاب يتناول فكرة ومفهوم المدرسة الذكية، بوجه عام، والتجربة المصرية في المدرسة الذكية، كما أنه ينطلق من فكرة مؤداها بما أننا نتحدث عن المدرسة الذكية SMART School، فهذا يعني أن كل ما في المدرسة SMART، لأننا نتحدث عن المدرسة ككل، وليس أسلوب التعليم فقط، ومن هنا جاءت مصطلحات، متعلقة بما يجب أن يكون ذكياً داخل المدرسة، فكان الحديث عن الأسلوب الذكي لتناول التلاميذ للطعام وخاصة أن وزارة التربية والتعليم المصرية تقوم بتوزيع وجبة غذئية لتلاميذ المدارس، وكذلك تناولت الكتاب السلوك الذكي للتلاميذ داخل وخارج المدرسة وكذلك المبنى المدرسة الذكي، وغيرها.
ولأن المعلم هو القائد الرئيس لدفة العملية التعليمية فقد تناول الكتاب كيفية تحقيق التنمية الذهنية له وتطوير مهاراته العقلية بما يجعله قادراً على النجاح في تحقيق أهداف المدرسة الذكية.
واهتم الكتاب أيضاً بكيفية تحقيق الاستفادة القصوى من المعطيات التكنولوجية الهائلة المتوفرة في القرن الحادي والعشرين من برامج، وأجهزة، ووسائل اتصالات ومعلومات، فكانت الدعوة إلى محاولة الاستفادة من التأثيرات الدرامية والنفسية للألوان في العملية التعليمية.
