نبذة النيل والفرات: إن التاريخ فن طريف يشتاقه كل ذي طبع لطيف ليعتبر بمن مضى ويقتدي بمن سار على منهج الرضا، ولقد ميّز الله تعالى العلماء عمَّن دونهم من البرية بالهمم العالية والأفعال السامية الذكية فكانوا مصابيح تنير طرق الظلام وتهدي إلى سبل السلام. وفي هذا الكتاب سير وتراجم لعلماء أفاضل رأى المؤلف من واجبه إبراز مآثرهم وآثارهم بذلوا الغالي والنفيس في سبيل خدمة كتاب الله وسنّة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، أندرست آثارهم وبقيت ذاكرهم، استسهلوا الصعب في سبيل طلب العلم على ما هم من شظف العيش وقلة ذات اليد فرحلوا ذات اليمين وذات الشمال طلباً للعلم، ثابروا بشق الأنفس في سبيل عزمهم وعزيمتهم. وقد عمد المؤلف في هذا البحث بتمهيد عن بلاد النجد وبلد الزبير والتواصل العلمي بينهما وأسباب هذه الرحلات العلمية وأسباب توجه كثير من علماء نجد خلال القرون الثلاثة الماضية إلى الزبير، وقدَّمت إيجازاً عن منارات العلم في بلد الزبير وبعدها قام بترتيب جدول رقم (1) يبين السنة الهجرية والفترة التي حكم فيها شيخ الزبير وقاضي الزبير في تلك الفترة، وجدول رقم (2) يبين العلماء وطلبة العلم ومكان وتاريخ ولادتهم ووفاتهم وأشهر مشائخهم في الزبير. وَلما للقضاة من فضل على غيرهم في تراجمهم قبل غيرهم من العلماء ثم شرع في سرد تراجم بقية العلماء حسب الترتيب الأبجدي، وقد ذكر تحت كل ترجمة المصدر الذي نقل عنه تلك الترجمة...
