على الرغم من صراحة القرآن المجيد والوحي الإلهي في حتمية وقوع هذا الأمر وتحقق هذا الوعد، لكن بقي سؤالان مهمان لم يصرح بجوابهما القرآن هما: 1-من المحقق لهذا الوعد الإلهي؟ 2-هل لتحقق هذا الوعد وقت معين؟ وهل هناك علامات تسبق وقوعه؟ من هنا كان اختيار هذا الكتاب لكي يقدم للقراء فقد حاول مؤلفه الإجابة عن هذين السؤالين من خلال إيراد النصوص والأخبار المختلفة المجيبة عنهما. فقد أشارت الأحاديث التي أوردها الإمام الصادق إلى أن المحقق لهذا الوعد القرآني هو رجل من بيت النبي الأكرم صلى الله عليه وسلم، يسمى المهدي، وهو الذي يصلي خلفه المسيح، وهو من أولاد أمير المؤمنين الإمام علي وفاطمة الزهراء رضي الله عنهما، وهو الذي يملأ الله به الأرض قسطاً وعدلاً كما ملئت ظلماً وجوراً. أما بالنسبة للمسألة الثانية فبناء على حديث: "كذب الوقاتون" لا يستطيع تعيين وقت ثابت لتحقق هذا الأمر، ولكن ذكر هذا الكتاب الأخبار الدالة على علامات الظهور وأمارات تحقق الوعد واقتراب الأمر.
